RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Predictors of COVID-19 (coronavirus) vaccination have been extensively researched; however, the contextual factors contributing to understanding vaccination intention remain largely unexplored. The present study aimed to investigate the moderating role of economic development (Gross domestic product - GDP per capita), economic inequality (Gini index), the perceived corruption index and Hofstede's measurements of cultural values-index of individualism/collectivism and power distance index-in the relationship between determinants of satisfaction with the healthcare system, trust in political institutions, conspiracy beliefs and COVID-19 vaccination intention. METHODS: A multilevel modelling approach was employed on a sample of approximately 51 000 individuals nested within 26 countries. Data were drawn from the European Social Survey Round 10. The model examined the effect of individual- and country-level predictors and their interaction on vaccination intention. RESULTS: Satisfaction with the healthcare system had a stronger positive effect on intention to get vaccinated in countries with lower perceived corruption and more individualistic countries. Trust in political institutions had a stronger positive effect on vaccination intention in countries with higher economic development and lower perceived corruption, while a negative effect of conspiracy beliefs on vaccination intention was stronger in countries with lower economic development, higher perceived corruption and a more collectivistic cultural orientation. CONCLUSION: Our findings highlight the importance of considering individual and contextual factors when addressing vaccination intention.

Introduction: In Western Europe, 20%-40% of children with fever request health care. Most of them present trivial viral infections, however, it is essential in pediatrics to distinguish patients who present a severe infection. This process begins with the recognition of the seriousness and the subsequent search for medical attention by the parents. Methodology: Analytical and cross-sectional observational study. One hundred patients were selected in two health centers. Sociodemographic data were collected, together with the responses to a checklist containing the signs and symptoms to request health care in case of fever. Subsequently, the checklist was filled out by the pediatrician. Results: The mean age of the patients was 5.41 years. 50% consulted in the first 48h of fever evolution. In 42%, the response to all the items on the checklist was exactly the same between the companion and the pediatrician. There were no significant differences according to variables: first episode of fever (P=.262), age of the patient (P=.859), having a sibling (P=.880), family relationship of the companion (P=.648) or educational level of the companion (P=.828). Conclusions: Medical consultations for fever in pediatrics are carried out very early. A high percentage do not present alarm signs when they consult. There is a need to expand training on the alarm signs of fever in all parents, regardless of the number of children, age or educational level. The checklist as a tool for home assessment of fever has received high marks for its usefulness.(AU)

RESUMO

This article proposes an advanced classification algorithm for bronze drinking utensils, taking into account the complexity of their cultural characteristics and the challenges of dynasty classification. The SSA-CBAM-GNNs algorithm integrates the Sparrow Search Algorithm (SSA), Spatial and Spectral Attention (CBAM) modules, and Graph Neural Networks (GNNs). The CBAM module is essential for optimizing feature extraction weights in graph neural networks, while SSA enhances the weighted network and expedites the convergence process. Experimental results, validated through various performance evaluation indicators, illustrate the outstanding performance of the improved SSA-CBAM-GNNs algorithm in accurately identifying and classifying cultural features of bronze drinking utensils. Comparative experiments confirm the algorithm's superiority over other methods. Overall, this study proposes a highly efficient identification and classification algorithm, and its effectiveness and excellence in extracting and identifying cultural features of bronze drinking utensils are experimentally demonstrated.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: To translate and cross-culturally adapt the Extended Version of the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (NMQ-E) into Persian (NMQ-E-P) and evaluate the psychometric properties in a general population with different occupational tasks across nine body regions. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was designed according to the standard guidelines and the COSMIN checklist. The NMQ-E-P was achieved through forward and backward translation methods and consensus to produce the final draft. A Persian-speaking population (n = 571, age 38.24 ± 7.65 years, female = 46.2%) was recruited from industries and office workers with three occupational task inclusion criteria: assembly, office, and lifting. Psychometric properties included validity for face (from confirmed clarity, simplicity, and readability), content (via the content validity index); and construct (through known group validity); additionally, the properties of internal consistency (Cronbach's α); and test-retest reliability (Kappa coefficient of agreement) were considered. RESULTS: No significant issues during the translation process were found. The NMQ-E-P showed adequate internal consistency for all regions (α ≥ 0.87). The test-retest reliability was examined with Kappa agreement correlation coefficient and all items, except ankle regions, showed very good agreements (Kappa coefficient = 0.87-1.0). Excellent ICC values were obtained for quantitative variables (ICC > 0.88) and good construct validity was revealed (p < 0.001). CONCLUSION: The Persian version of the NMQ-E has very good validity and reliability and can be used by researchers and professionals to evaluate the prevalence of MSDs in nine body regions simultaneously.

RESUMO

The attention of the whole globe has been focused on major sporting occasions such as the Olympic Games, the FIFA globe Cup, and the Super Bowl. Sporting events have the potential to significant social and economic repercussions on host towns and countries. This study intends to examine the cultural, economic, and infrastructural variables that contribute to the varying impacts of large sports events on different countries. Our study takes a comparative approach, looking at how different host cities and countries have fared throughout the years. In this article, we explore the social, economic, and cultural effects of hosting major sports competitions and the differing degrees to impact various communities. In this study, we examine the beneficial effects of athletic mega-events by attributing them with characteristics like the ability to stimulate economic development, catalyze urban regeneration, inspire social change, and build destination brands, among others. Negative effect studies claim that sports mega-events can cause things like human rights violations, pollution, unbridled nationalism, corporate exploitation, and bribery of government officials. In the context of large-scale events, such as the Olympics or the World Cup of Football. Some of the biggest sporting events, like the Alpine and Biathlon World Championships have been able to go under the radar in the face of their more popular Mega counterparts.Chi-Square test is used to evaluate the performance of participants in mega sports events. Conclusions from this study show that the societal and economic effects of large-scale sporting events are intricate and situational. Ultimately, this study helps us better understand how big sporting events transform the socioeconomic landscape of host communities, which in turn improves our ability to plan and execute policies for future events (AU)

RESUMO

Indigenous groups in the Amazon have long practiced physical activity and fitness, which is ingrained in their culture and reflects a harmonious coexistence with the natural world, traditional knowledge, and spiritual beliefs. The research study highlights the importance of cultural sensitivity in health treatments and examines the various factors that shape physical activity in these communities. Native American customs include a wide range of activitiesthat promote physical health and social cohesiveness, such as traditional hunting and fishing techniques and group dances rooted in spiritual expression. These activities' communal aspect strengthens social relationships and highlight a holistic approach to health that considers mental and spiritual aspects in addition to physical fitness. When outside influences infiltrate local communities, a careful balance must be established between protecting traditional history and adjusting to modern problems. Given this, interventions should be cooperative, respectful of, and integrated with Indigenous viewpoints to maintain relevance and sustainability. The research highlights the importance of general health methods that consider all the interrelated facets of wellbeing and recognize the distinct cultural settings in which Indigenous populations in the Amazon engage in physical activity (AU)

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Indigenous Peoples: First Nations, Métis and Inuit, have experienced significant disruptions of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health and well-being through centuries of ongoing colonization and assimilation. Consequently, breakdown of cultural connections, increasingly sedentary lifestyles and high levels of screen time contribute to health inequity experiences. PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to examine associations of cultural connectedness with sedentary behaviour and the influence of relocation from home communities for Indigenous Peoples in Saskatchewan. METHODS: Cultural connectedness, sedentary and screen time behaviour were evaluated through online questionnaires among 106 Indigenous adults. Within Indigenous identities, 2 × 2 factorial ANOVA compared cultural connectedness scores with sedentary behaviour and traditional activity participation by relocation from home communities. RESULTS: Among First Nations and specifically Cree/Nehiyawak who relocated from home communities, positive associations of cultural connectedness scores with sedentary behaviour and screen time were identified, with no associations identified among those not relocating. Among Métis who did not relocate, greater ethnic identity, identity, spirituality and cultural connectedness (57.8 ± 5.36 vs. 81.25 ± 16.8; p = 0.02) scores were reported among those reporting 5 or more hours of continuous sitting. CONCLUSIONS: Cultural connectedness associations with sedentary behaviour depend on relocation from home communities and differ between First Nations and Métis. Understanding associations of sedentary behaviour specific to First Nations and Métis populations may enable appropriate strategies to improve health outcomes.

Since the consolidation of radio and TV broadcasters in Pará, local media has propagated the idea of a "Pará music," moniker often used in a series of events produced in and outside the State. By contesting such singularization, this psychosociological analysis unveils the mechanisms that mediate cultural industry and mass formation by analyzing the spectacle Terruá Pará. For this purpose, a bibliographic review was conducted, as well as a documentary research concerning part of the printed material produced for the festival's third edition. In conclusion, although Terruá Pará appears based on an allegedly rational discourse to value regional music, it dialectically promotes irrationalities expressed in specific modes of subjectivation that, disregarding diversity, reduce its consuming public to the quality of abstract crowd

The purpose of the study was to understand the sociocultural configurations about diseases of a group of peasants in Córdoba, Colombia, through a micro-ethnographic design and the application of semi-structured interviews, conversations and observations to 20 members of the community, between October 2020 and March 2021. The interviews were transcribed and organized in matrices for their categorization and analysis using Bardin technique. The disease is conceived from two constructions: being sick is not being able to work and being sick is restlessness and anguish; Both configurations are built from the link between the opportunities to work and do activities from daily life, but they are altered by problems in the provision of the health service. It is concluded that the sociocultural configuration of the diseases overcomes the vision of physical imbalance because it is perceived into daily life activities, the ways of living, and the solidarity networks woven by the peasants as a strategy against the negligence of the state ineffectiveness of health system in Colombian rural areas.(AU)

The article discusses the mobilization of primary teachers, popularly called normalists in the process of constitution, in Brazil, of the sanitary professions (educators or health visiters and nurses). The sociocultural characteristics of normalists made them the ideal type of women recruited to the new health professions. The sociocultural characteristics of normalists made them the ideal type of women recruited to the new health professions. In addition to the similarity of gender (female professions), the primary teaching and health professions shared knowledge and practices of biomedical and hygienist matrix and the same field of professional activity (schools, health posts and households), which translated the affinities between public policies for education and heal.(AU)

RESUMO

We examined theories of cross-cultural differences in cognitive style on a sample of 242 participants representing five cultural groups (Czechia, Ghana, eastern and western Turkey, and Taiwan). The experiment involved immersive virtual environments consisting of two salient focal objects and a complex background as stimuli, which were presented using virtual reality headsets with integrated eye-tracking devices. The oculomotor patterns confirmed previous general conclusions that Eastern cultures have a more holistic cognitive style, while Western cultures predominantly have an analytic cognitive style. The differences were particularly noticeable between Taiwan and the other samples. However, we found that the broader cultural background of each group was perhaps just as important as geographical location or national boundaries. For example, observed differences between Eastern (more holistic style) and Western Turkey (more analytic style), suggest the possible influence of varying historical and cultural characteristics on the cognitive processing of complex visual stimuli.

RESUMO

The Work-Related Acceptance and Action Questionnaire (WAAQ) is a self-report instrument that measures psychological flexibility at work. Although this scale has been validated in some languages, its psychometric properties in Colombia are unknown, making it challenging to assess work-related psychological flexibility in this country. The present study analyzed the psychometric properties and factor structure of the WAAQ in a sample of 985 Colombian workers. The internal consistency of the WAAQ measured through coefficient alpha was .88. The one-factor model with correlated error terms between items 4 and 7 showed a very good fit to the data (RMSEA= 0.033, CFI= .998, NNFI= .997, SRMR= 0.018). The WAAQ showed metric and scalar invariance across gender, age group, socioeconomic stratum, and hierarchical level. Furthermore, it correlated negatively with psychological inflexibility, psychological distress, emotional exhaustion, and cynicism and positively with professional efficacy, work engagement, and job satisfaction. In conclusion, the WAAQ seems to be a valid self-report of work-related psychological flexibility in Colombian samples (AU)

RESUMO

Cultures vary in beliefs about appropriate display of emotion. Children rely on adults to help them understand emotional experiences and display emotions in a culturally appropriate manner. The present study compared how emotion display differs between Thai and American mother-child interactions during preschool. Language samples from 21 Thai and 21 American mother-child dyads were elicited using prompted reminiscing, book reading, toy play, and child personal narrative tasks. Results revealed group differences in emotion talk and behavior. American dyads expressed more intense emotions during interactions compared to Thai dyads. American dyads also displayed more emotion behaviors than Thai dyads, whereas Thai dyads used more emotion words compared to American dyads. Additionally, there were gender differences in the expression of emotion, with boy dyads more emotionally intense than girl dyads in both groups. Boys displayed more negative emotion behaviors compared to girls during prompted reminiscing, whereas girls used more negative emotion words than boys during the personal narrative task. These findings demonstrate cultural and gender differences in socialization goals and practices regarding emotion display and underscore the influence of mothers' scaffolding on children's emotional development. This research reveals the variability in beliefs and values that underlie emotional development across sociocultural contexts.

RESUMO

Kimchi is a traditional Korean fermented vegetable that is stored and fermented at low temperatures. However, kimchi lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are typically isolated under mesophilic conditions, which may be inappropriate for isolating the diverse LAB. Therefore, this study investigated the suitable conditions for isolating various LAB from kimchi. Here, LAB were isolated from four kimchi samples using MRS, PES, and LBS media and varying isolation temperatures (30, 20, 10, and 5°C). Then, MRS was selected as the suitable medium for LAB isolation. A comparison of culture-dependent and culture-independent approaches indicated that 5°C was not a suitable isolation temperature. Thus, the number and diversity of LAB were determined at 30, 20, and 10°C using 12 additional kimchi samples to elucidate the effect of isolation temperature. With the exception of two samples, most samples did not substantially differ in LAB number. However, Leuconostoc gelidum, Leuconostoc gasicomitatum, Leuconostoc inhae, Dellaglioa algida, Companilactobacillus kimchiensis, Leuconostoc miyukkimchii, Leuconostoc holzapfelii, and Leuconostoc carnosum were isolated only at 10 and 20°C. The growth curves of these isolates, except Leu. holzapfelii and Leu. carnosum, showed poor growth at 30°C. This confirmed their psychrotrophic characteristics. In Weissella koreensis, which was isolated at all isolation temperatures, there was a difference in the fatty acid composition of membranes between strains that could grow well at 30°C and those that could not. These findings can contribute to the isolation of more diverse psychrotrophic strains that were not well isolated under mesophilic temperatures.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Disrespect and abuse violates women's basic human rights and autonomy and can traumatize women who are already in a vulnerable position during childbirth and deter them from utilizing skilled care for future childbirth. This study explored women's perspectives on the acceptability of disrespect and abuse during facility-based childbirth in Ethiopia. METHODS: A qualitative descriptive design using five focus group discussions and fifteen in-depth, semi-structured, interviews was conducted with women between October 2019 to January 2020 in north Showa zone of Oromia region, central Ethiopia. Using purposive sampling, women who had given birth at public health facilities of North Showa zone during the twelve months preceding data collection were recruited, regardless of birth outcome. Inductive thematic analysis using Open Code software was used to explore the perspectives of participants. RESULTS: While women reject disrespectful and abusive acts during childbirth generally, they may consider some disrespectful acts as acceptable and or necessary under certain circumstances. Four emerging themes were identified. (1) Disrespect and abuse is not acceptable, (2) Disrespectful and abusive actions are acceptable only if intended to save lives, (3) Disrespectful and abusive actions are an accepted part of everyday practice to prevent complications and adverse outcomes, (4) Disrespectful and abusive actions are necessary to discipline disobedient women. CONCLUSION: Women's perceptions of disrespectful and abusive acts of care providers is deeply rooted within the context of violence in Ethiopia and the societal hierarchies that have systematically disempowered women. Given the pervasiveness of disrespect and abusive actions during childbirth, policymakers, clinical managers and care providers must take these essential contextual and societal norms into account and devise comprehensive clinical interventions that addresses the root causes.

RESUMO

The basic aim of this research study is to describe the dissemination of evolution related to the traditional ethnic sport culture. This research study depends on theoretical base analysis to determine the research used different websites linked to dissemination and evolution. The data collected related to the traditional ethnic sport culture research study based on theory and some data based on primary research. For this purpose, data collected through questions for measuring the research used smart PLS software, and run results included significant analysis and smart PLS Algorithm model related to the traditional ethnic sport culture. In conclusion, sports are cultural in a variety of ways. Participating in sports enables us to have and share culture, keeping us physically fit and healthy and enhancing our reputation via success. Furthermore, Sports help us develop a sense of self and community. Even better, we can introduce people to our culture. Sports participation is one of the few ways we can interact with and learn about another culture. Recognizing this fact enables us to use sports for good.(AU)
